Getting Started

Get StackSpend running in under 20 minutes. Connect your first provider, verify a sync, then configure budgets and daily reporting.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Admin access to at least one provider account (AWS, GCP, OpenAI, or any of the 15 supported providers)
  • A StackSpend account — sign up free (14-day trial, no card required)
Tip.Start with your largest spend source. If that's AWS, connect AWS first. The dashboard is most useful once it reflects real spend.

Setup steps

1

Create your workspace

Sign up at app.stackspend.com/signup and complete the onboarding flow. You'll be asked for:

  • Workspace name
  • Your timezone
  • Preferred daily report delivery time

Once your workspace is created, invite teammates via Settings → Team.

2

Connect a provider

Go to Providers → Add provider and choose from the 15 supported providers. Start with your highest-spend source.

See the provider setup guides for step-by-step credential instructions for each provider.

Security. All credentials are encrypted at rest.
3

Run your first sync

After saving a provider, StackSpend runs an initial sync automatically. When data appears depends on your provider type:

Provider typeSync frequencyData available
AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Grok)Real-timeWithin minutes
Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Vercel, ClickHouse, Twilio)Daily batchWithin 24 hours
GCPDaily batch24–48 hours after enabling BigQuery billing export
CursorDaily batch6–7 day rolling window only (API limitation)
GCP requirement.GCP requires BigQuery billing export to be enabled before StackSpend can pull data. Enable it in your GCP project first, then connect. Data appears 24–48 hours after enabling.

You can also trigger a manual sync at any time from the provider's detail page.

4

Set a budget

Go to Settings → Budgets & alerts and set a monthly spend amount for each provider.

StackSpend will alert you when you hit 50%, 80%, and 100% of your budget. Alerts appear in your inbox and can be routed to Slack or email.

Learn more in the Budgets guide.

5

Configure daily report

Go to Settings → Daily report to set your delivery time and add email recipients.

Connect Slack for team-wide daily digests — each morning, StackSpend posts a cost summary to your chosen channel.

See the Daily report guide for configuration options.
