Daily Report

A morning cost digest delivered to your inbox and Slack channel every day.

What is the daily report?

The daily report is a morning cost digest that StackSpend sends automatically at your configured delivery time. It gives your team a quick snapshot of cloud spend without needing to log in, so cost awareness stays front-of-mind across engineering and finance.

What's in the report

Each report includes four sections:

SectionDetails
Yesterday's spendTotal cost broken down by provider for the previous day.
Month-to-date totalCumulative spend so far this month compared to the same point in the prior month.
Open alertsAny unresolved anomalies or budget breaches that need attention.
Budget statusA traffic-light indicator (green / amber / red) per provider showing how spend tracks against your budgets.

Configuring the daily report

Go to Settings → Daily report to configure delivery. The following options are available:

OptionDescription
Delivery timeThe time the report is sent each day, in your organisation's timezone. Defaults to 9:00 AM.
Email recipientsAny email address — recipients do not need a StackSpend account.
Slack channelConnect a channel with one click to post the report automatically each morning.

Connecting Slack

You can connect Slack from two places: Settings → Daily report, or from the Set up task that appears in your Inbox when Slack is not yet configured. Once connected, the daily report posts to the selected channel automatically.

Already have a Slack task in your Inbox?.Click Set up on the Slack task in the Inbox — it takes you directly to the connection flow without navigating through Settings.

Alert notifications

In addition to the morning digest, StackSpend fires immediate notifications when something needs urgent attention. These are separate from the daily report but use the same delivery channels (email recipients and Slack channel configured above).

Alert typeWhen it fires
Anomaly alertImmediately after a data sync when an anomaly is detected.
Budget alertAs soon as a budget threshold is crossed.
Note.Alert notifications and the daily digest share the same email and Slack destinations. If you want alerts going to a different channel or address, you can update recipients in Settings → Daily report.

Per-user opt-out

Individual users can opt out of specific notification types without affecting the rest of the team. Go to your profile settings and toggle the notification types you no longer want to receive. Opting out only affects your own delivery — other recipients continue to receive notifications as normal.
